Give Me That Mountain

The Kingdom of God Operates with Infinite Resources

Fear Exposed. Day forty-five...

The world system operates with the assumption that resources are finite. From a worldly perspective, if I want to prosper then I must prosper at someone else's expense. If I want a bigger piece of the pie then I must take from somebody else's piece, because there's only so much pie to go around. Conversely, I have to be on guard that others don't prosper at my expense, but at the expense of somebody else instead.

The Power of God’s Presence

Fear Exposed. Day forty-six...

“God, where are You in all this?” Which of us doesn't ask such a question when circumstances appear to be so hopeless and we appear to be so helpless? But are we asking Him to come and spend time with us as we work through the problem, or are we asking Him to just come and fix the problem? Are we approaching Him as our Lord, or are we approaching Him as our handyman?

Sickness Locks Us out of Our Future

Fear Exposed. Day forty-seven...

“What is going on?” I thought to myself. I had lost all that I had gained from God's early‐morning healing of my body. How could I go from sick to healed, and then back to sick again within about a four‐hour period?

No Longer an Orphan

Fear Exposed. Day forty-eight...

I remember a Christmas movie Sherrel and I watched a couple of years ago—the fictional account of three orphaned boys who spent the holiday season with a childless couple. Early in the film the couple took them to visit Santa at the local mall. When Santa asked what they wanted for Christmas, two of the boys pointed to the young couple and said, “A family!”

Living as a Child of God

Fear Exposed. Day forty-nine...

When we live with an old covenant mindset we will not understand what it means to be His child and to live in His kingdom (while still living here on this earth). When everything about God is about living by His rules and not about living in His presence, we cannot understand what it means to be a part of His family.

God Has Everything to Do with Health and Healing

Health and Healing. Day one...

A few years ago I had a business appointment at one of the hospitals in Springfield, MO. Through the window in the lobby area I could see a large construction project that appeared to be almost completed.

Designed to Last

Health and Healing. Day two...

When we bought our last car there were still a few thousand miles left on the warranty. I looked for every possible flaw so anything found could be taken care of before the warranty ran out. I've done that on every vehicle I've purchased, as I suppose most people have.

A Serious Disconnect

Health and healing. Day three...

I mean no offense to all you dog lovers out there, but when I see a car with large dogs moving constantly between the front and the rear seats, I see a torn-up interior. When I see a car with a ladder hanging out one of the windows or a lawn mower sitting in the back seat, I see a poor prospect for a good used car. A while back, I saw three people trying to put a queen‐size mattress set into the trunk of a sub‐compact.

First Responder

Health and Healing. Day five...

A tire does not usually go flat as you're driving by a tire shop. While it may not happen while driving through the Mojave Desert either, flats never occur at a convenient time or in a convenient place.

Balancing Time

Health and Healing. Day six...

As an exercise in maintaining balance, I always put on my socks by standing on one leg at a time. I just figure that what I do every day I can keep doing every day.

Whose Plans?

Health and Healing. Day seven...

As a boy on the farm, I was not always the most highly motivated worker. One of Dad's favorite expressions was, “Mike, you're walking around like the dead lice're falling off you!” If I was moving so slowly that lice would have to die and fall off of me, I suppose I must have been barely moving.
