Trust in Action
Day seven...
I can no longer, in good conscience, tell someone in distress, “Trust God, and pray.” There's more to it.
Trust in Action
Day eight...
How much does peace of mind cost? A quick online search reveals several options:
- A tax preparer offers a “peace of mind” warranty when paying for its services.
- A life insurance company offers peace of mind when buying one of its policies.
- A funeral home offers peace of mind when purchasing a prepaid funeral plan.
- A food products company offers peace of mind when purchasing its natural, environmentally friendly products.
Trust in Action
Day nine...
Trusting a person's plan is not the same as trusting the person. We can actually trust the plan and not trust the person.
Trust in Action
Day ten...
In encouraging people to make progress, I have observed two extremes in behavior. There are those who take on no responsibility for their lives and those who take on too much.
Trust in Action
Day eleven...
So where are we? Have I convinced you that:
- Trust is not possible unless it is powered by God. God is the only one capable of meeting His responsibility to you.
- God does not share trust. You either trust Him or you don't. And if you're trusting in yourself, you simply cannot be trusting in Him.
- God is not a vending machine, existing to meet your needs. He is a relationship (your Lord), out of which your needs are met.
- He is challenging you to trust in Him completely for your very survival—and to prefer dependence on Him over dependence on yourself.
- God is never silent. You may not be communicating with Him, but He is always communicating with you.
- You are not wired to live without a plan. But God intends for you to live by His plan and not by one of your own making.
Moving Prayer from a Ritual to a Lifestyle
Prayer on the Move. Day one...
“We'll keep you in our thoughts and prayers.” What do people mean by that? Are they saying they normally think without praying and pray without thinking? Exactly what are they going to do? Are they going to think about me, or pray for me? Or will they do both?
God Hears All Our Prayers Even If He Doesn’t Seem to Answer Them All
Prayer on the Move. Day two...
Wouldn't it be great if God would hear all of our prayers and answer them? That would make Him the ultimate vending machine… and us the ultimate mess.
God Is Not Trying to Find Some Reason to Disqualify Your Prayer
Prayer on the Move. Day three...
If I know God is listening for my voice… if I know God wants to hear from me… if I know He is not going to cut me off when I am less than perfect… doesn't that change things? You bet it does.
Not All Prayers Are Created Equal
Prayer on the Move. Day four...
Picture yourself as a water faucet and prayer as the water. You don't have just one kind of prayer flowing through you. Your prayer can be either hot, cold, or some sort of mixture.
Our Motives When We Pray Do Matter
Prayer on the Move. Day five...
Position is critical when we pray… not the position of our body, but the position of our mind.
Prayer without Action Attached Lacks the Power to Make a Difference
Prayer on the Move. Day six...
“I will pray for you,” is frequently nothing more than a considerate, but meaningless, response to another person's distress. I know because I've said it… and I've done nothing else for that person, other than to think, “Boy, that's a lost cause.”
Be Bold in Knowing God, So You Can Be Bold in Being with Him
Prayer on the Move. Day seven...
“My dad can help you with that.” Children all over the world reassure their friends with these words.
