Fear of…
Day One...
Fear is a lot like mold. It thrives in complete darkness, or in areas of little light. It can survive in many harsh environments. So much so that you will think you've completely rid yourself of it, only to have it reappear when the conditions are right. Without warning it can make you sick, leaving you with no trace of the cause of your misery. Although it won't usually kill you, it will make you vulnerable to stuff that can.
Fear of…
Day Two...
Yesterday, we began a study of fear. If we unwrap the failure and disappoint in our lives we will usually find fear lying unnoticed, in some corner of our frustration. We don't know much about it, because we don't think much about it. We just live with it, largely unaware of how much it hurts us.
Fear of…
Day three...
Fear is a bully—but not like the playground bully you had in elementary school. That bully was mouthy and wanted to be noticed by everybody. This bully doesn't want to be noticed. If he remains in the shadows it's easier for him to convince you that his threats are indeed facts—something bad is going to happen and there is nothing you can do about it.
Fear of…
Day four...
So you're convinced that you need to take action against the fear breathing threats against you. And you're asking, “What's next?” The next step is to learn how to separate mere threats from truth.
Fear of…
Day five...
“God, I don't want to wake up in the morning.” For about eight months, that was my request each and every night as my head hit the pillow. God heard me but He obviously didn't answer my request.
Hearing from God
Day three...
“Gwen grew up on this land. Every ravine, every rock formation, every grassy slope, every cluster of trees… every detail as familiar today as it was back then. Today, she needed something familiar to cling to—something to take her mind off her troubles. Her world had begun to fall apart—piece by piece, person by person. And she just needed a walk in the sunshine in a place of security… to grab hold of something, anything, she could count on.
Yes and No
Day ten...
If you read something awesome in the Bible, but your life looks entirely different from what you read… what do you do?
Yes and No
Day eleven...
I'll be the first to admit that Friday's article was hardly light reading. But some of you may be in a very real fight for your life, or for the life of someone you love. And you need to know that God is big enough and powerful enough to make any… any… any problem disintegrate under the weight of His promises.
Joy
Day four...
Just like with money, we want to have as much joy saved up as we possibly can… so we can spend it whenever we need it, without having to worry about where to get it. So, why don't these times of joy, like we talked about yesterday, last for at least a few days?
Joy
Day seven...
How we handle all the stuff that comes against us has everything to do with how happy we are. Something had to come against that happy little one‐year old to cause her to start cutting at age fourteen. Something had to come against that happy little four‐year old to cause him, at age thirty‐two, to depend on anti‐psychotics just to function.
