Give Me That Mountain

God with Us

A Change of Mind. Day nine...

What if God just flew out of Heaven and landed on earth in His man costume? What if He then just walked around doing God things and finally ended the whole show by pretending to be in pain on a cross. (He was, after all, God. He could fake the whole thing and we wouldn't know the difference.)

Consider

A Change of Mind. Day ten...

When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
The moon and the stars, which You have ordained,
What is man that You are mindful of him,
And the son of man that You visit him? (Psalm 8:3–4 NKJV)

Grace Changed the Rules

Fear Exposed. Day forty...

In my early twenties I went to Europe for a couple of weeks. At that time I didn't normally have two nickels to rub together, so I have no idea how I came up with the plane fare. I do remember having about $200 worth of traveler's checks to live on for my entire adventure through England, France, and Spain. Obviously, I traveled on the cheap, sleeping outside in my sleeping bag part of the time and hitchhiking all of the time.

Fear Exposed. Day forty-two...

As a father, I did not allow my children to avoid doing the hard things. I certainly did not enjoy watching them suffer through difficult challenges, but I knew that whatever pain they experienced would be short‐lived in comparison to what they gained.

Giving Up Control

Fear Exposed. Day forty-three...

I found a list of phobias online with more than 500 documented entries—from “Ablutophobia: the fear of washing or bathing” to “Xyrophobia: the fear of razors.” The scientific accuracy of this list could certainly be questioned, but it would be safe to draw the conclusion that fear comes in many flavors.

Giving Everything without Losing Anything

Fear Exposed. Day forty-four...

“He is no fool who parts with that which he cannot keep, when he is sure to be recompensed with that which he cannot lose.” Matthew Henry (1662–1714), the Presbyterian minister who wrote an exhaustive commentary on the entire Bible, attributed these words to his father, Philip.

The Kingdom of God Operates with Infinite Resources

Fear Exposed. Day forty-five...

The world system operates with the assumption that resources are finite. From a worldly perspective, if I want to prosper then I must prosper at someone else's expense. If I want a bigger piece of the pie then I must take from somebody else's piece, because there's only so much pie to go around. Conversely, I have to be on guard that others don't prosper at my expense, but at the expense of somebody else instead.
