Health and Healing. Day five...
A tire does not usually go flat as you're driving by a tire shop. While it may not happen while driving through the Mojave Desert either, flats never occur at a convenient time or in a convenient place.
I have, in fact, ruined a couple of perfectly good tires by driving them while flat. I don't remember the details other than I felt like I was in situations where my life was at risk if I had stopped driving.
Self‐repairing tires have been around for some time, but so far the problems have outweighed the benefits. Michelin, however, is reportedly coming out with a tire this year that is supposed to repair itself permanently with no side effects, so to speak. This is good news for all of us who have ever had flats in inconvenient places, and at inconvenient times.
God has designed the human body to repair itself, to an amazing extent.
- Small cuts and scrapes that bleed enough to clean the wound don't need any attention at all—not even a Band‐Aid.
- Foreign objects that penetrate the surface of the skin (such as wood or metal splinters), if not manually removed, will on their own eventually fester and pop out.
- Poison Ivy and other plants that cause skin irritation are eventually rejected by the body.
- Minor sprains usually heal without medical attention.
- Some broken bones are not typically given any medical attention, and heal on their own—such as broken toes or cracked ribs.
- Smashed thumbs repair themselves and grow new thumbnails.
And these are just a few of the obvious ways that the body repairs itself. The human body's immune system is constantly self‐treating issues coming against it—sometimes we realize it, as in the case of a fever, and sometimes we are completely unaware of what has been resisted.
I think we miss the miracle that God has put in place on this earth.
It's not just the human body that has the ability to heal itself. A starfish can regenerate a missing limb. A crab can regenerate a claw. A tree can heal over a missing limb, or re‐grow missing bark. A dog that's severely injured can miraculously recover on its own.
If you've never considered healing by any means other than doctors and medicine, then considering the body's ability to heal itself will be a good introduction to supernatural healing.
Please note: I am not opposed to the medical community. In the event of an accident or any other situation that would render me unconscious (and therefore unable to ask God for direction or assistance) I would certainly need the help of the medical community. I am thankful and grateful for all of the men and women who have dedicated their lives to health and healing. I just don't want man's help to be the first thought on my mind when I have a health issue coming against me. I want God to be my first responder.
I want God to be your first responder.
As long as God is your first responder you will greatly reduce the stress of wondering: “Do I trust my doctor, or do I trust God?” The answer is yes—trust both. But trust God first and foremost. Your doctor has no good gift apart from what he or she has received from God.
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. (James 1:17 ESV)
To have a “healthy” perspective on health and healing, we need to remember that everything having to do with life is from God.
The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. (John 10:10 NKJV)
While I'm no fan of Big Pharma, any medicines that promote life are from God. Any medical procedures that promote life are from God, as are all the medical professionals who do so. Any nutritional supplements, any food sources, and any alternative medical procedures that promote life are from God, as are all the naturopathic doctors and related professionals who do so.
Jesus is the power source for anyone who promotes life, whether that individual realizes it or not. Jesus makes abundant life possible—only Jesus. All of the achievements of the men and women who promote health and healing are possible only as a result of the healing power of Jesus flowing through them.
Have a good day,
